Devlog 1: Prototyping
Hello! Welcome to the introduction of our project: Equilibrium
We will be working on this for the coming months! Our team consists of: 2 programmers: Kevin D and Kobe V 2 artists: Roxana C and Hana S The past week, we have made big decisions about our upcoming game.
1. The game! First of all, we had to decide which game we were going to make. During our brainstorming sessions, we came up with a bunch of ideas, all sounding very interesting, but some causing us to be more stuck in progression. We therefore decided to go with the idea we each felt slightly comfortable with: a combat platformer! It's core mechanic: switching mechanic. You play as either a mage or a knight. Switch between the two characters, and use their abilities to beat the enemies and complete the game.
2. The engine We made the heartbreaking decision of choosing our engine: Unity will be our friend and ally the coming months! Our two programmers tried prototyping in both Unreal and Unity - Unity came out on top.
3. The artstyle We tackled the big frame of our project: the artstyle we will be going for. We each collected a bunch of games we were inspired by., and that would suit the theme of our game. Resulting in a very moody, fantasy forest we are exited to create!
4. The roles In order for this project to run smoothly, we needed to assign clear tasks and functions to each member. For the artists, we decided on who will be in charge of characters (Roxana) and environment (Hana). We will discuss furder tasks such as FX, Animation, Assets,.. down the road.
The next week we will pin and plan every task on the board: what needs to be done, by who and when. Then we can start making our project
