Equilibrium » Devlog
Here we are again with an update of the game.
This week we worked on getting some animations, RFX and sounds to work. as well as setting up some extra enemies.
The player can now encounter the following enemies:
- Basic enemy
- Standard enemy. that tries to engage the player in physical melee combat
- Shielded enemy
- An enemy that will block the players's physical attacks until it is hit by a magic attack upon which it will lose it shield ability and turn into a standard enemy
- Ranged enemy
- The ranged enemy will try to attack from range with its magical attack abilities.
Sounds and animations have also been set up and provide the player with some feedback upon their actions.
There is also now the distinction between enemies, which makes the switching mechanic necessary.
Our UI and HUD are mostly implemented in the game. Next, we will be polishing.
For the environment, this means getting rid of the ugly and harsh blending edges you can see now in our game. These will be gone after next week!
The enemies now also have animations now. However, the rig does not seem to be bound perfectly yet, creating some ugly artifacts in the mesh when animated. This is an issue that will also be addressed during the polish phase.
These are the different animations for the enemies. Also, each enemy type has a different color:
-blue: normal
- yellow: shielded
-green: ranged attack
We also created some RFX effects using sprites we made ourselves. Here is the mage's magic attack:
These are the RFX for when the player gets hit (left) or when an incoming attack has been blocked (right):
The magic attack also has buildup effect:
